Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Principal Project Manager to join as an Owner Interface Manager to lead the interface between partner organisations and the Te Ara Tupua Project. In this role, your focus is to uplift, develop and maintain effective relationships and a positive team culture as a key member on both Wellington and Top of South Leadership Team and the overall Alliance Leadership Team.

You'll establish and nurture close collaboration with all Alliance partners, including local iwi, contractors, and consultants to deliver project leadership as part of the senior Alliance leadership team ensuring smooth flow of information and feedback during the project life-cycle. As a representative of the Leadership team at a Project Alliance Board level, you will be ensuring that the best project delivery, aligned to Waka Kotahi desired outcomes.

This role is all about people. First and foremost, you are a leader with exceptional communication skills, and proven ability to build relationships, foster supporting environment and engage with all key stakeholders including iwi, industry partners, landowners and your internal team.

You are a proven Principal Project Manager, experienced in managing contracts within the road transport or civil construction with a sound understanding of Alliancing. For a copy of the position description click here.

You'll also bring with you:

  • Extensive project/programme management experience, encompassing financial and risk management.
  • A dedication to cultivating a positive and inclusive work environment, where individuals feel valued and empowered to contribute their best-efforts.
  • Broad experience in infrastructure construction works and an in-depth knowledge of the processes involved in planning, designing, and building.
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver results in a changing and -pressured environment.
  • An understanding of sustainability, local and regional government, council practices and constraints.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills, using professional judgement.
  • Proven track record of fostering collaboration and integration across teams and stakeholders.
