Ngā kawenga | About the role

We have a 16 month fixed term position available for a June 2024 start.  This position will be based in Upper Hutt but supports National Operations across Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin.

Our Electronic Monitoring Practice Leaders have a strong focus on continuous improvement and support the National Operations team with people and process development, delivery, analysis and monitoring of practice.  In this role you would be expected to:

  • model high standards of behaviour, professional practice and self-development.  This role also supports the professional practice and ongoing development of others, through facilitation of learning, reflecting and providing feedback
  • apply coaching and mentoring skills to assist staff to identify strengths, knowledge, experiences and ways to practice, that support good outcomes for the people we manage
  • develop and maintain best practice guides and the practice centre
  • manage and monitor quality assurance, calibrating and resolving issues relating to quality assessments
  • have access to unique opportunities within the role, including contributing to a range of projects/initiatives
  • operate with a clear work plan and goals, which are aligned to Hōkai Rangi
  • work as part of a team, but also have the ability to work independently and autonomously.

Travel may be required from time to time as part of role requirements.

To be successful in this position you will demonstrate:

  • 2-3 years team leader experience in coaching, mentoring and leading others
  • experience and knowledge with Electronic Monitoring is desirable
  • success in coaching others and growing people to be the best they can be
  • the ability to link daily operations to the overall business direction
  • group facilitation skills or experience in delivering training/information and reflective practice sessions
  • positive energy, creativity, innovation and open-mindedness
  • solution mindset, enthusiasm and strong willingness to try new ways of working
  • growth mindset and be able to receive and provide constructive feedback
  • strength in self-reflection and a focus on your own professional practice competence
  • proven competency and experience in leading, mentoring or coaching people
  • advanced communication skills - listening, reflecting, questioning
  • excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to build a good rapport with people and to work effectively with a wide range of different audiences
  • ability to have courageous conversations with tact and diplomacy
  • discernment and good judgement in conduct and speech
  • resilience despite setbacks.

Utu ā-tau | Salary

The starting salary for this role is $83,969.  The salary band is based on four steps and goes up to $92,496.  Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
