Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi | The Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.

We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.

As a Principal Service Development Manager, you will be the primary subject matter expert in your life course team, able to hold trusting relationships with Māori, senior sector leaders and health providers, clinicians and the wider community to address key strategic and operational issues, negotiate key agreements and stewarding change including driving service improvements. Regionally based roles will work closely with the Senior Locality Managers who will hold generalist relationships with providers across their communities, as well as the other regional integration teams and the national team to design and implement service improvements across your region.  

This role is based in the Te Manawa Taki Region made up of Waikato, Lakes, Bay of Plenty, Tairāwhiti and Taranaki. You will need to be based in the region. Your location can be discussed at interview stage.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā weako | Skills and experience

• Highly experienced in commissioning in varied environments.
• Demonstrated  experience at a senior level leading the development and delivery of service and investment strategies and initiatives, including the full commissioning of services within the specific life course area.
• Demonstrated experience in health service funding with procurement and provider management oversight at a senior level.
• Demonstrated experience in the development of high quality and timely investment planning strategies and initiatives.
• Experience developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples groups.
• Demonstrated experience in developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples and groups and at a senior level.
  
• The ability to communicate complex information and ideas in both oral and written communication to a range of audiences including senior management, Board and Ministers.
  
• Experience navigating and operating within the machinery of government or in a regulated environment.
