Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity''
We are looking for our next Procurement Excellence Manager. The purpose of this role is to lead the development and implementation of best practice procurement to meet our fit for purpose approach to procurement including methodologies, processes, procedures, models, systems and tools to drive greater public value outcomes.
This role will see you leading change, by identifying and determining suitability of new and innovative ideas and concepts and working on a diverse programme of work that crosses multiple parties. You will lead the development and implementation of programmes and initiatives for the delivery of procurement excellence and capability uplift outcomes for NZTA | Waka Kotahi. You will manage a small team of professionals to support the administration, development and delivery of procurement excellence outcomes.
You'll draw on your expert knowledge and thought leadership, to provide specialist advice on procurement to both internal and external customers, at all levels.
We are looking for someone who can identify, develop and deliver continuous improvement initiatives, possesses an in-depth knowledge and application of procurement and commercial practices and is an effective change agent.

To be successful in this role, you will bring a passion for driving change, sound commercial expertise, business knowledge and procurement experience that contributes to the ongoing development and application of best practice procurement excellence for NZTA | Waka Kotahi and its supply chain. As a standout achiever, you'll lead the delivery of commercial excellence procurement outcomes and support NZTA | Waka Kotahi to achieve efficient execution of its commercial planning, sourcing, management objectives.
Knowledge and experience:
  • 5+ years procurement and/or commercial experience
  • Experience in developing, implementing and maintaining best practice procurement
  • Experience in managing internal/external people and resources
  • Experience in continuous process improvement
  • Experience in change management
  • Outstanding communication and relationship building skills
Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualification in a related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge or experience in infrastructure delivery would be preferable
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.'
