He Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role

If you are highly motivated individual who is passionate about empowering tamariki and whānau and providing them the right service at the right time, then we would love to hear from you!

We have an exciting opportunity within our Child Health Integrated Response Pathway (CHIRP) team!  CHIRP is a joint venture between Paediatric, Child Mental Health and Child Development services and aims to improve the experience and outcomes for Tamariki who have neurodevelopmental, behavioural, and attentional concerns.

We are looking for a skilled Health Professional who is experienced in working within the Child and Adolescent domain. Our candidate will join the Tauranga based CHIRP team and have the exciting opportunity to be apart of this service within the Western Bay of Plenty.

The CHIRP Intake co-ordinator will provide an information gathering/assessment and advisory role for children referred with developmental, attention and/or behavioural concerns.  Information will be collated to better understand the needs of each individual child and whānau to connect them with appropriate services for ongoing assessment and support. This typically involves parent and teacher questionnaires and screening tools to gain a better understanding of a child's strengths and needs across different environments.

The objective of this role is to facilitate an accessible, responsive and whānau centred pathway for children and their families.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have great communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Have experience working with Tamariki and whānau, preferably with an interest in neurodevelopment and some knowledge of mental health presentations.
  • Be responsive, creative and flexible in the pathway for the Western Bay.
  • Be a registered health professional (Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Speech Language Therapist).
  • Be a team player, and connect well with whānau, child specialist services, and community and education networks within the Western Bay.

This is a permanent, 0.8FTE full-time position working 64 hours per fortnight.  If you are interested in this position, then we want to hear from you!
