  • Able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and autonomously where required;
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC and must have a mental health scope of practice
  • Qualified Occupational Therapists and Social Workers will also be considered.

1x Full time (0.94FTE) permanent positions available

1x Full time (1 FTE) permanent position available for a registered keyworker

2x Part time (0.6FTE) permanent positions available

The Nga Kakano is a 16 bed regional unit which covers the South Island and works with people under the age of 18 with mental health problems. We have a strong focus on working with the youth and their family/whanau. You will be part of a dedicated, collaborative and cohesive multi-disciplinary team; with the opportunity to contribute to challenging yet rewarding work. 

This is an exciting time to be joining the team as we have moved into new purpose built, state-of-the-art facilities based at Hillmorton Hospital - these facilities are a game-changer, enabling contemporary treatments and enabling more effective and efficient treatment pathways for our young people.

Pehea | About You

  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC and mental health scope;
  • Qualified Occupational Therapists and Social Workers will also be considered;
  • An interest in Safewards and training in the Collaborative Problem Solving Approach will be provided;
  • An ability to forge and foster meaningful relationships, whilst treating others with respect, encouragement and support;
  • Adhere to guidelines of Cultural Safety and the Treaty of Waitangi.
