DOSA & SSSU Registered Nurse

FTE available 0.6 to 1.0 – We are flexible for the right nurse

We are looking for several fantastic nurses to join our Day of Surgery Unit (DOSA) and Surgical Short Stay Unit team.

 

We have a variety of FTE within our forward-thinking day of surgery unit, rotating between day surgery (DOSA) and a 6-bed surgical short stay unit.

 

The ideal candidate would be a registered nurse who meets the below criteria and is interested in joining our multi-disciplinary team that cares for patients along the surgical continuum.

 

The job is suited to a reliable person with great interpersonal skills that can adapt to change within a developing service.

 

DOSA (Day Surgery) is a fast-paced area that looks after pre-operative and post-operative patients from multiple different specialities in the operating theatre. A new Cath lab and new theatres will increase the variety the team has to adapt too. DOSA is open Monday to Friday.

 

SSSU (Surgical Short Stay Unit) is a six-bed ward attached to DOSA. It takes those patients that need a short stay post-surgery and takes mainly Urology, General Surgical and Ortho patients. This area will involve some Nights and Saturday shifts.

 

Essential criteria:

  • NZ practicing certificate
  • Great team player
  • Amazing communication skills
  • Medical or Surgical acute NZ experience

 

Desirable skills & knowledge:

  • 2 years NZ Surgical or Medical experience
  • Perioperative experience
  • Proficient PDRP
  • Postgraduate – assessment paper.

 

Hours of work will be 24-40 per week depending on FTE, working rostered rotating shifts.
