He Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role

Are you interested in working with adults experiencing psychological distress – making a difference in their lives and future wellbeing?  We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse who has a passion for mental health nursing and supporting clients through their recovery process.

Key aspects of the role are:

  • Completing mental state assessments
  • Therapeutic engagement to promote recovery
  • Supporting medication and physical health management

This role will be working in Te Whare Maiangiangi, our Adult Inpatient Unit at Tauranga hospital, where our clients are aged 18 - 65.  The team consists of experienced multi-disciplines, including nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, psychologist, psychiatrists, pharmacist, physiotherapist, and Pou Kokiri cultural advisor. 

Our team culture is nurturing in nature, and we are supportive of active learning, both practically and academically. We are passionate about improving health outcomes for people entering our unit.

This is a permanent, full-time position; however, we have flexible FTE and are open to applications from candidates looking for 0.8 – 1.0 FTE (32 - 40 hours per week).

The preferred candidate would be passionate and committed to providing Tangata Whai Ora focused care. The ability to work as an effective team member and demonstrate strong communication is essential to this position. Our preferred candidate shares our values and wants to make a meaningful contribution to the lives of others.

To be successful in this role you will be a Registered Nurse who has experience and skills working in a mental health setting.

You will also need:

  • Nursing Registration and Current Annual Practising Certificate
  • Mental Health included in your Scope of Practice
  • Be able to demonstrate and live up to the CARE values of Te Whatu Ora.
