Service/Department: Registered Nurse, Emergency Department

Contract: Permanent, Part-time, 0.9 FTE (1 position), Rostered-Rotating

About the role.

We have an exciting position available in the Acute Assessment Unit for a suitably qualified registered nurse. This role will report to the Clinical Nurse Manager and involves working closely with other staff including the multi-disciplinary team.

The Emergency Department team are a passionate, progressive and innovative bunch who are continually trying to find new ways to better serve the needs of our community. We are a fast-paced, high-turnover Department.

Skills and experience.

· Critical Thinking and Decision Making: In the fast-paced environment of an emergency department, RNs must be able to quickly assess patients' conditions, prioritize care, and make sound decisions under pressure. Critical thinking skills are essential for recognizing subtle changes in patient status and determining appropriate interventions.

· Emergency Medical Procedures: RNs in the emergency department should be proficient in performing various emergency medical procedures such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), intubation, wound care, and administering emergency medications.

· Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication is crucial for coordinating care with other healthcare team members, relaying information to patients and their families, and advocating for patients' needs. To be suitable for the role you must also demonstrate empathy and compassion while interacting with individuals experiencing distress or trauma.

· Adaptability and Stress Management: Working in the emergency department can be unpredictable and demanding. RNs need to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations, adapt to changing circumstances, and efficiently multitask to provide timely and effective care to patients with diverse needs.
