Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

Mō mātou | About us

Our tamariki and rangatahi deserve to feel safe, have their voices heard, and be surrounded by loving whānau. At Oranga Tamariki, we're on a journey to ensure that it happens. We are leading social work practice that is child-centred, trauma-informed, and effective for all cultures. Our ultimate goal is to provide tamariki and rangatahi who come into our care with the best possible opportunities to achieve positive change and turn their lives around.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

Our Supervised Group Homes provide a safe environment, while providing both individual and group programmes for Tamariki. Programmes focus on individual change and growth through specialist education services, programmes targeted to individual needs, clinical services, cultural programmes and physical activities.

Casual Residential Workers are called on to cover for our care team. The position forms part of a casual pool of staff that provides cover as and when required. We help tamariki transition into education, training, or employment, and to a safe and stable living arrangement when they leave our care. Residential Workers can and do make a significant difference in the lives of at-risk tamariki. They provide day-to-day role-modelling, mentoring, support, and coordinated activities for the rangatahi in our care.

We are seeking interest from people who have excellent interpersonal skills and are highly creative and motivated. You will need high levels of resilience and flexibility, and a passion for working with youth.

• Be a strong team player and positive role model.
• Be flexible and able to work rostered shifts.
• Able to meet the Vulnerable Children's Act safety checking and Ministry vetting requirements.
