Our client is a company that manufactures and distributes timber and building products in New Zealand and Australia. 
  
At present, we are looking for a qualified, skilled, and experienced Sawmill Maintenance Fitter/Engineer with analytical problem-solving skills, teamwork, communication proficiency, excellent organizational abilities, and attention to detail to maintain and optimize the performance of sawmill equipment, ensuring efficient and precise workmanship of the highest standard.

Your Main Responsibilities Will Include: 

• Attending to breakdowns and getting equipment up and running as quickly and efficiently as possible. 
• Taking a pragmatic approach to dealing with a task and evaluating the cost versus downtime and long-term outcome. 
• Having the skills and ability to evaluate and repair various machines and equipment in a professional and timely fashion. 
• Reviewing and improving the current preventative maintenance plan. 
• Organizing the workshop tools and equipment as required. 
• Finding work that needs to be done and being self-driven and proactive in this regard. 
• Maintaining a pragmatic and well considered approach to health and safety, including risk assessment, before starting a task. Discipline in the use of lock out tags and hot work permits. A safety-first culture. 
• Having a good level of cooperation and communication with other workers, department managers and suppliers. 
• Keeping focused and maintaining a professional approach when under pressure. 
• Always act with honesty and integrity. 

The successful candidate must have a valid full driver’s license with a relevant trade qualification and pass a pre-employment drug test or MOJ if required. Prior engineering experience is an advantage. Open to NZ Citizens / Residents or hold a valid open work visa.
