Kāwai ki te Iwi | Service Delivery and Operations (SDO) is responsible for Identity and Passport Services, Births, Deaths and Marriages, Citizenship, Charities Services, Authentications, Translations, Digital Transformation and Community Operations - DIA's network of community development and funding.

Kāwai ki te Iwi translates to "Links to the People". This reflects the customer-facing nature of the work we do, the customer-centric approach we take to provide effective and efficient services, and our drive to continuously improve customer experience.

The Senior Advisor Organisational Development (OD) supports the Kāwai ki te Iwi, Service Delivery and Operations branch to achieve its strategic objectives by leading the delivery of OD initiatives, providing our people leaders with trusted OD expertise and advice, and ultimately helping to make New Zealand better for New Zealanders.

Our OD team's ability to design and develop support for leadership, culture, change, capacity, and capability has a direct impact on performance. As Senior OD Advisor You will apply your technical expertise to deliver our OD initiatives as part of our roadmap focused on developing, engaging and growing capability across the Service, Delivery and Operations branch. In this role you will work closely with our HR functions including Culture and Capability and Business Partnering to ensure the activities we introduce complement and support those at an organisation level.

To be successful in this role you will be driven to deliver, working within set timeframes but maintaining enthusiasm to go above and beyond to deliver meaningful and value-add initiatives that truly make a difference to our people. You'll be a self-starter, highly motivated, and won't shy away from different ideas or perspectives to showcase innovative ways of doing things. In addition being a strong communicator and well-organised will help you navigate a busy role with multiple streams of work to deliver successful outcomes.

Our tools such as the Branch Priorities and OD roadmap will act as strategic anchors and provide a pathway for you to develop and deliver in the role.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Experience in the design and delivery of organisational development programmes and/or initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality advisory services
  • Ability to effectively build and manage strong professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Solid technical skills with an organisational development, learning and practice focus
  • Practiced in navigating ambiguity and confidently uses own initiative when working with a range of complex, evolving information
  • Well-developed communication skills including the ability to persuade and influence to obtain optimal outcomes
  • Strong sense of self-awareness

This role is centrally based in Wellington and requires some occasional travel to support others working in locations around New Zealand.
