The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, works towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

We have a permanent, full-time Senior Advisor, Quality Safety and Vaccinator Authorisation opportunity available to join our System Enablers & Engagement Group within the Prevention Directorate of NPHS. This role is critical in enabling the delivery of the NPHS strategic agenda for Pae Ora (Healthy Futures).

The Senior Advisor, Quality Safety and Vaccinator Authorisation role provides a continuous focus on quality assurance, monitoring and reporting activity within the Quality and Monitoring Team to support the delivery of high-quality immunisation and screening services.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

• Tertiary qualification in a health or relevant field (e.g. quality improvement methodologies, project management) and/or equivalent experience
• Senior experience in quality systems and quality improvement in a healthcare setting providing advice to senior leaders and providers
• Experience leading the development of quality improvement projects and contributing to projects across teams
• Experience in an advisory role, applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice
• An understanding of and ability to select, adapt and use a range of frameworks, principles, tools and methods and draw on experience in different areas of expertise to apply them appropriately to given issues
• Some leadership experience, that may include having designed and managed a project of work and resources
• Strong analytical skills combined with an ability to quickly assimilate new information, and to write and talk about complex issues clearly and concisely with a range of audiences
• Developing knowledge and skills to deal effectively with complex and politically sensitive situations or topics
