Our Purpose - Ā Mātou Kaupapa

In response to the complex recovery of regions affected by the Auckland Anniversary Weekend floods, Cyclone Hale, and Cyclone Gabrielle, the Cyclone Recovery Unit (the CRU) was stood up in March 2023 and is hosted by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

The purpose of the CRU is to support the Chief Executive Cyclone Recovery to coordinate cross-government work on cyclone recovery; to support locally led engagements with communities, iwi, business, and local government; coordinate planning and reporting; and ensure alignment with broader policy decisions on long-term resilience.

 

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

This role will sit in the Planning and Implementation Team, this team is responsible for programme management for all aspects of the Framework for Severely Affected Locations (FOSAL) implementation, including Whenua Māori and Marae implementation. This means working with the other teams to ensure the programme and project plans it develops are timely, fit for purpose and provide appropriate support to the other teams so they know the sequence and prerequisites for their parts in the process. It also means maintaining strong relationships with the regions to ensure a timely information flow about issues, blockages and other matters that may affect their implementation plans.

This team is responsible for analysing and translating monitoring data into the weekly and monthly reporting for Ministers, including tracking funding and expenditure. The team will also be responsible for supporting governance meetings, quarterly governance meetings with the regions and the cross-government agency governance meetings.

The purpose of the Senior Analyst position is to support the team to monitor progress and deliver high quality reports to ensure implementation is on track and give advice where course correction may be needed.  

In this position you will be required to lead work that evolves our monitoring and reporting process, maintaining good data integrity and developing useful information for reporting that will enable governance decision making.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring capability in the following areas:

  • Experience within the public sector and sound knowledge of the machinery of government
  • Experience in advising and supporting people at all levels of an organisation
  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to manage relationships at a senior level
  • Experience in developing, authoring and implementing functional and operational plans
  • Demonstrated strategic, conceptual and critical thinking skills and strong analytical ability
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ta matou e tuku | What we offer

Salary range $110,000 - $125,000 p/a including Kiwi Saver contributions.

The CRU is based in Wellington and the team will operate from offices centrally located.
