At Manatū Hauora – Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.
The Payroll Replacement Project is responsible for the implementation of a new Payroll/HRIS system at the Ministry with the goal to leverage modern technology, streamline payroll processes, and ensure compliance with current regulations.

 

Ko ake mahi - What you'll do

The Senior Data Analyst will support the Payroll Replacement Project by identifying and capturing detailed data requirements, data mapping and leading the data migration across Payroll and HRIS. You will work closely with others throughout the business and with external vendors/third parties to communicate the projects findings and implement changes.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing consistent and high-quality analytics, advice, oversight and direction to the team's work programme
  • Extracting data and produce reports using business intelligence tools such as SQL Excel
  • Conducting data reconciliation between systems and convert data between systems and unit adjustments
  • Creating SQL scripts to be used multiple times during the migration process
  • Leading and provide expert advice on data migration activities and develop a data migration strategy document outlining the approach taken
  • Assisting in parallel pay run testing and post data migration testing
  • Assessing the reporting needs of the new systems and create and test reports
  • Developing data mapping design documents that align with the project requirements
  • Developing business processes reflective of the data mapping design
  • Actively lead the gathering of detailed data requirements to support the Payroll Replacement Project 
  • Create key artefacts and keep up to date, with a strong focus on ensuring governance is maintained throughout the project lifecycle  
  • Present results of analysis in a way that shows understanding and interpretation of impacts and consequences for all parties  
  • Build and maintain collaborative and positive relationships across the Directorate, Ministry, the wider health sector, government and other external stakeholders

 

Ko pūkenga - What you'll bring

  • 5+ years demonstrated experience in the field
  • Demonstrated experience working in a lead Data Analyst position on a system implementation Payroll and/or HRIS project
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience working with large datasets using SQL for data extraction, manipulation and analysis
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience working with and manipulating data using Excel
  • An eagerness to gain business context to help inform your approach to the analytical activities, and solve customer problems alongside your stakeholders
  • Experience directly presenting insights to non-technical audiences including senior stakeholders
  • Ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively at all levels across a large multi-disciplinary organisation
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
