The Opportunity

As Senior Business Partner you will be an integral part of the People and Partnering function based primarily in Palmerston North.  This role supports the People Partnering Lead through the provision of end to end Human Resource support, based on strategies policies and processes, to a portfolio of services within staff working at Palmerston North Hospital.  You will work in partnership with leaders and key stakeholders within the services to understand their operational and human resource needs and support the achievement of their goals and operational requirements.

 

As Senior Business Partner you will:

 

  • Develop an understanding and awareness of Health NZ and MidCentral's work environment, nuances and obligations
  • Provide expert human resource advice and support to managers in the full range of human resource services, for example, in relation to human resource policies and procedures, performance management, complaints, investigations, disciplinary action, conflict management and restorative processes.
  • Be proactive and anticipate the needs of services and propose solutions that fit these needs
  • Support change management processes
  • Work in collaboration with the wider People and Communications teams, assisting with the implementation of initiatives to actively promote and support Health NZ's culture, values and employee engagement
  • Nurture a positive working environment that fosters collaboration, respect and inclusivity
  • Maintain current knowledge of employment agreements and employment legislation

 

You will require:

 

  • Experience in working as a generalist senior human resource business partner with proven success in engaging and influencing a wide range of diverse groups, within a highly unionized work environment
  • Experience in giving meaningful effect to the expectations outlined in Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgement, be confident in decision making and able to influence
  • The ability to be organized, able to balance multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • A sound knowledge of NZ employment legislation and experience in managing complex employee relationship issues and change processes
