Launching a rocket and managing satellites necessitates the coordinated efforts of numerous teams, diverse locations, and intricate systems working harmoniously toward mission accomplishment. Operations Software serves as the conductor, uniting these elements by furnishing operators with timely, precise, and visually appealing control and system status displays.
As a Senior Engineer within the Operations Software team, you will undertake the creation, upkeep, deployment, and support of components, functionalities, or services crucial for the seamless operation of launch vehicles and spacecraft. This role grants autonomy for independent engineering tasks as assigned and may entail product ownership responsibilities. Decisions concerning risk, cost, or quality are subject to escalation or review within the workflow, guided by the judgement of the Senior Engineer.
Details of your day to day:
•Software development tasks encompass:
- Creating software and unit tests in alignment with bug-fix and feature requests
- Generating operational documentation for software products
- Utilizing source code control tools to manage code commits
- Reviewing and approving source code merge requests
- Establishing code review standards
- Designing software architecture
- Refining product backlog items and defining "definition of done"
- Facilitating and engaging in agile software development methodologies
- Maintaining ticket updates on work in progress
- Collaborating with stakeholders
- Leading software demonstrations for stakeholders
- Deploying operational software
- Providing support to software product users
- Conducting training sessions for software product users
- Developing and evaluating software requirements
- Contributing to and assessing trade-study figures
•Procurement, intake, and storage of telemetry data from:
- Launch Operations
- Spacecraft Operations
- Integrated Systems Testing
- Operational Simulations
- Sub-System Testing
- Design and development of Human Machine Interfaces for console operators
- Implementation of Voice Communications Services for console operators
- Creation of Information Displays for operator facilities
- Management systems for launch and satellite operations
Candidates should possess:
•Tertiary Diploma, Certificate, or degree in disciplines such as Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar.
• A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience is required.
• Proficiency with Git is essential.
• Familiarity with one of the following: Redmine, Jira, or other issue tracker is preferred.
• Experience in C# or Golang Development is required.
• Prior involvement in Desktop Application Development is beneficial.
• Knowledge of Ethernet Network Protocols is advantageous.
