Right now, we - re looking for a passionate Social Worker with great interest in mental health to join our Inpatient Mental Health Team in Timaru. Dedicated to helping people live their best possible lives, we - re after someone who truly thrives on seeing patients achieve their goals. Sound like you?

The Social Worker provides psycho-social support to individuals and their families/whanau facing challenges arising from health-related issues.

In this positive team environment, initiative is rewarded with active support allowing for high standards of service delivery.  You will have time to invest in your clients and team and enjoy an established structure which contributes to achieving the best outcomes for our people.

The role includes responsibility for working alongside clients who have an identified need for assistance with issues around employment, finances, and/or housing.

You ideally should have:

  • Full registration with the New Zealand Social Workers Registration Board
  • A current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • ANZASW membership or be participating in monthly clinical supervision.
  • Comprehensive Social Work knowledge and appropriate clinical experience preferably within a mental health related setting
  • Experience in managing the complex psycho-social needs of patients and whanau within the health setting
  • The aptitude to make autonomous clinical decisions within scope of practice
  • The ability to work effectively within a team along with a high standard of oral and written communication skills.
  • A current New Zealand driver - s license
