We are looking for a health Social Worker to work alongside other agencies in the Police led family harm space. This is a permanent full-time position.

You will be a key member of the family harm team providing relevant information to support safety planning for whanau experiencing family harm. You will be connecting with health clinicians as required.

Tasks include: 

  • Effectively utilising social work processes to ensure a quality service is provided to Northland – Te Tai Tokerau clients
  • Maintaining professional standards and professional development
  • Ensuring that systems and processes are in place to raise awareness of family violence interventions
  • Maintaining a strong social work identity with whanau dignity and wellbeing at the forefront of all interactions
  • Building and maintaining relationships with the Violence Intervention Programme team and the Social Work Department 

Key Requirements: 

  • Recognised tertiary qualification in Social Work
  • Current registration with the New Zealand Social Workers Registration Board
  • Having a sound working knowledge around the dynamics of family harm
  • Current New Zealand Driver's Licence
  • Proven experience working with individuals and families with diverse needs
  • Demonstrated experience in social work processes, theories and concepts
  • Demonstrated experience working with Māori
  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative multi-agency setting

It is desirable that the successful applicant will have a contemporary understanding of health management practice and a minimum of two years of post-graduate experience.
