About the Role:
CGW is looking for their next Team Leader/Senior Structural Engineer to undertake and oversee technical Structural Engineering work for their Christchurch office. In this role, you will be required to oversee and conduct various structural designs. This includes seismic assessments, restoration and the design of new builds, and construction observation.
You will be reporting to the Principal Structural Engineer and will have key relationships with the operations manager, other principal engineers, and company directors.
This role requires experience and leadership skills, you will be tasked with developing and mentoring the current small team of competent structural engineers and helping grow the team, working in with the wider structural team as the company continues to expand. This role has a specific focus on identifying and managing business development opportunities to further grow the structural engineering offering of CGW with a focus on Christchurch and the surrounding areas.

- Project lead on various structural design projects, collaborating with other engineers across the team and other disciplines
- Lead a team of 2 structural engineers currently, with future growth planned, managing workload and coordinating the efforts of the team.
- Mentor and oversee the development of interns and graduates
- Provide technical management, meet project deadlines and quality standards
- Carry out QA reviews of other engineers’ work
- Manage existing and develop new client relationships
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities
- Write proposals for new work, including scope development and fee estimating
- Identify specific training needs and technical development within the business.
- NZ or equivalently recognized tertiary qualifications with
- CPEng (structural) registration
- Team mentoring experience
- Excellent technical background with recent seismic and building design experience in New Zealand
- The ability to manage existing and develop new client relationships.
- Local market knowledge and a strong client network in Christchurch
- Significant experience in a structural engineering consulting environment
- Excellent communication skills
- A can-do attitude and passion for team growth and development of the company
