Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

As a member of the Workforce Development team, you will play a key role in the Student Placement System project. You will support the workstream lead responsible for expanding clinical placements, playing a key part in a pilot project to inform a nationally consistent approach to dedicated education units (DEUs), including inter-professional practice DEUs. You'll have the opportunity to be innovative improving and increasing placement opportunities, working in partnership with the districts and education providers and oversee an external evaluation of the pilot.

We are seeking to fill two roles, both are full time, 12-month fixed term contract. Internal candidates only need apply. Roles being advertised:

Mōu | About you

  • You will possess a strategic mindset, have a proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships across health and education providers to enable and facilitate the expansion of clinical placements, have a deep understanding of DEU models for nursing and the opportunities this approach affords for inter-professional practice.
  • You enjoy a fast-paced setting, get it done attitude and ability to juggle day to day to be highly responsive to the needs of our stakeholders.
  • You have a track record of leading continuous improvement projects, a willingness to drive change and demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with stakeholders throughout the journey.
  • You will be experienced in producing high quality written products, presentation materials, reports, and briefing papers in a timely fashion, often under time pressures.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Clinical or other operational background related to the coordination and placement of nursing and/or allied health students
  • Proven ability to operate and get buy-in within the health and education sector with complex stakeholder interests
  • Experience in supporting the design of work programmes and project planning and advising on complex planning leading to the successful implementation of regional or national initiatives
  • Written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles

  • A commitment to being a good Te Tiriti partner in all your actions. This includes an understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the ability to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in this role
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
