The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.
We have the opportunity available to join the Health Protection team in an exciting role as Team Leader Compliance Health Protection Team for MidCentral District. As a designated Health Protection Officer (HPO) this role will require additional responsibilities to lead and manage the compliance health protection team. This will include work programmes including environmental and border health, communicable disease outbreak management, smoke free enforcement and support to emergency management events.
Working under the leadership the Kaitātaki Health Protection and supported by the regional development and delivery leads for environmental and border health and communicable disease. You will be responsible for line management and people leadership for the Compliance and Health Protection kaimahi. This role includes day to day operational leadership, resource utilisation and coordination of programme planning, delivery, evaluation and reporting across a range of programme areas. As a designated HPO you will be expected to undertake rostered on call functions and support emergency management events within a CIMS structure when required. Although a district role, you will be expected to seek new ways of working within regional networks to ensure a consistent approach to delivery of health protection is achieved.

You will be a strong leader and experience service developer that will innovate and identify opportunities to develop and lift the performance and work collaboratively with the team. You should be experienced in compliance, environmental and border health programmes with skills in developing and contributing to strategies, including planning, prioritising, delegating, and organising work to deliver on short and long term objectives.
