Description
We are on the lookout for an experienced leader to own the New Zealand supplier relationships and purchasing of parts against the supply chain connected to manufacturing and distribution of mechanical goods. Our client is an internationally renowned New Zealand based manufacturer of high-quality commercial mowing equipment. With an exceptional nationwide customer base alongside export including the UK and USA our client is experiencing consistent and exciting growth with new export ventures on the horizon.
Main Purpose of the position:
You will lead the NZ purchasing team to ensure effective supply of components and materials for manufacturing and spare parts supply from the NZ site. This will crucially include managing supplier relationships within the New Zealand market and managing ERP system processes and data to ensure efficient and accurate inventory and purchasing accuracy.
Accountabilities:
- Manage supplier relationships in the NZ market using global supplier relationship management process.
- Leadership and performance management of team members.
- Use system functionality to maintain master data and carry out agreed processes to purchase
components from approved suppliers, drawing down to ensure components are available for
Production and Spare Parts. - Investigate, develop, and gain agreement on countermeasure inventory solutions to ensure
production continuity. - Carry out root cause analysis to investigate stock shortage/excess, poor quality and non
conformance or any other inventory errors and formulate and introduce robust corrective
actions. - Lead projects to develop purchasing / inventory processes and systems.
- Attend relevant planning meetings to report on any significant inventory issues that may affect production. Identify and act upon supply chain constraints highlighted in the production schedule.

Skills and Experience Required:
- Excellent Interpersonal skills and experience to engage suppliers, customers and all levels of staff.
- Excellent knowledge and experience with ERP or MRP systems.
- Proven ability to manage time and key tasks in a production/distribution environment.
- Background and understanding of engineering/mechanical components, including technical drawings and terminology.
- Proven ability in a supply role where supplier interaction and purchasing practices were employed, in a production environment.
- Proven ability to manage teams, develop skills and influence change.
Desired:
- Specialist procurement experience working with mechanical parts.
- Practice of Theory of Constraints or other lean purchasing methods.
- Procurement Project Management.
