This is a great opportunity for an MIT to be trained as a Sonographer by our experienced team.

It is a 3-year fixed term trainee role that would become a permanent Sonographer position once training has been completed.

This position is primarily located in Nelson Hospital where we offer a comprehensive diagnostic radiology service including: General Radiography, CT Scanning, Ultrasound, MRI and Interventional Radiology.  As obstetric ultrasound is imaged elsewhere in Nelson, there will be time spent at an alternative site for this component of training.

This role is best suited to a person who values teamwork, respects individual needs and is motivated by excellent clinical outcomes.

The salary for a Trainee Sonographer full-time position is within the range of $75,144 - $79,330 as per the APEX MECA dependent on skills, experience and relevant qualifications.

We are looking for someone who has current registration in the 'Trainee Sonographer - scope of practice with the NZMRT Board.

You will be a positive, friendly and supportive team player with a good sense of humour and:

  • an interest in and/or experience of Sonography
  • well-developed communication skills and empathy
  • the passion to deliver high-quality healthcare
  • flexibility to work a Monday to Saturday rotating roster

Solid relationship management skills and a commitment to professional development and quality assurance programmes. You will also be versatile and able to adapt to a constantly changing environment. 

This role is open to anyone with an acceptable undergraduate degree for the post graduate ultrasound program. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.
