Are you thinking of a career in health care? Our Wairoa Community Rehabilitation Team is able to provide on the job learning and formal qualifications for the right person. You must be eager to learn, highly motivated and passionate about supporting others.

Our Wairoa team is expanding, and we are going to be providing more rehabilitation services in the community. This includes working with pakeke (adults) and kaumatua (elderly) to be independent and live well at home. This could range from falls prevention exercises to stroke rehabilitation to providing equipment. You’ll be dealing in the business of people every day so communication, patience and empathy should be high on your list of attributes.

If successful, you would provide relationship centred support and rehabilitation at home, in an environment that is familiar and meaningful. You would use a restorative model to help people increase their independence in activities of daily living and their participation in community activities. The rehabilitation is under the delegation of a registered health practitioner and includes activities such as walking, dressing, meal preparation and exercise programmes, among many others. You would work with whānau to enable them to take an active role in helping their loved one thrive.

The office is based at Wairoa Hospital, but you will be out seeing people in the community, therefore a clean drivers license is essential. This is your opportunity to be part of an innovative service at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Te Matau a Māui Hawke's Bay and to make a huge difference in people's lives. We want your input in achieving the best possible outcomes for the Wairoa community.
